Cannot figure out where these parts were used - removed for engine work. One is shown in the 280SL exploded parts diagram in the Injection section. Appreciate a photo or location/purpose. Reassembly after photos were lost is a puzzle sometimes, especially choosing the proper sequence.
-
The one on the left seems to hold a rubber grommet, which in turn seems to provide a location for a tube/line of some kind.
-
Sorry, had to remove my previous post. I gave you wrong information. The throttle body bracket has a bit different shape. The bracket on the right, PN A 130 070 07 40 I have in two places, but on the left side of the engine, like on this picture, no. 22: https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/en/mercedes-230-280sl-w113-/07-mech-injection-air-intake-/07-a-injection-system
I will dig a bit more to find exact location.

Hello, This hardware looked very familiar since I had to pull and refurbish my fuel tank and all the lines. Look to the front left corner of the fuel tank. See attached picture from my early 280SL. The rubber pad supports that corner of the tank. Others might be slightly different. -Mark
-
The fuel tank - THANKS ! That resolves one bracket which was missed after cleaning the fuel tank and reattaching. I never went back there to check.
-
I think the other bracket mounts right next to it and is for clamping the larger fuel feed line from the tank to the pump. My picture doesn't really show that correctly since I currently have mounted an aftermarket electric pump and so I just tie-wrapped the fuel line while I rebuild my old tall style pump. -Mark
-
Also, you can just see at the bottom of the picture, slightly out of focus, the clear fuel filter I installed about 10cm out on the fuel line from the tank before getting to the pump. I fully cleaned and boiled out the tank and then used Eastman tank sealer but there was still debris in the tank, probably in the flower pot. I have filled up two of these filters with crud in just a year and only a few tanks of fuel. This last one seems to be staying pretty clear so I think I have finally purged my tank of all debris. The clear filter is sure nice for quickly checking and it prevents the dirt from making it into your pump which as you know is a bit more hassle to remove and clean out. -Mark

I do not recall any bracket there.... The fuel tank - fuel pump line has no brackets... you could add one if you add interim filter for sure, but form the factory, I think there was no bracket.

Interesting to know about the clamp. This explains some things. My early 280 originally came with the long pump and during its first summer in Nevada had multiple issues with vapor lock. Modifications were made, have to check exactly what in the giant stack of handwritten records. At some point that long pump died, probably for lack of cooling due to the reduced fuel flow when in vapor lock. At some point a short pump was installed, free at the dealer as I recall. I suspect in the process of working all this out the mechanic installed a clamp to hold the fuel line down. I cant see that its anything but goodness so I'll leave it. I know they had to deal with converting that odd "T" return line when the pump types were changed too so maybe that has something to do with it. Learn something every day on these cars. thanks! Mark
-
I also installed bracket to hold the fuel line as with the additional in-line filter it is just getting heavy.
The T connector comes with the small orifice in the injection pump outlet (return) fitting. You may want to follow up on it and check yours.
Still do not know where that right hand side bracket goes exactly.
I thought for a moment it is one of those that are screwed with the oil pan screw to hold the oil line, but cannot verify it now.
-
I liked that idea but the only pictures I found of oil pipe mounting brackets looked like the one attached here with a different orientation of holes with respect to the bend. I do have a bracket with very similar, but not exact dimensions to the one wayneesch originaly showed in the starting post, and its right next to the tank support and had the fuel line clamped to it on my apparently non-original fuel system, so don't read to much into that.
-
I will look at my car on Friday.
Yes, what you show there is for oil lines.
-
Look at the small metal oil line going to the back of the injection pump. I think this bracket supports it.
-
I checked that oil line and did not see a place to attach the bracket. I am looking for the odd shaped bracket in that location that supports that oil pipe line to the oil cooler (attaches to the fuel injection bolt at the block)- seems to be misplaced or installed in the wrong location.
-
Maybe it goes there as marked? It is the earlier type cold start valve routing, I have a different one, but perhaps it is like yours.
-
FYI, Here's a picture of the injection pump oil pipe clamp bracket that mounts behind the pump on my early 280. Looks similar but not exactly like the mystery bracket. -Mark
-
Ok, my next guess would be the dip stick housing support
. This would only be used on the later versions.
-
I thought it may be for the dipstick (dipstick is very stiff and does not appear to need support) or the oil cooler pipe which should be attached with the power steering reservoir at the fuel injection pump and the block. I cannot figure out a configuration of my remaining brackets that would provide this support. I do not have the bracket 1301800140 shown in this post by roymil above. Looking for bracket 1301800140 to purchase, MB Classic Center informed that it is out of production and not available for MB. Note MB Classic Center is relocating, and their phone and website are not working some of the time this week.
-
Have you checked my last post with the picture? Is it not where it goes?
And no, it is not for the dipstick for sure, there is a different bracket there. We went through this on this forum.
-

Her is a photo of the bracket holding the oil cooler pipe. Have you checked that location?
There are two similar brackets - one looks like Pawel's - but it is longer and has a slight bent in it.
-
I think you are spot on - it is one of the two. Indeed the one I indicated is longer and slightly bent, as much as I can see on the picture.
-
It does not go on the intake manifold, I already have the proper bracket install there
-
It is not the injection pump oil pipe clamp bracket that mounts behind the pump. Thanks for the suggestion.
-
It looks just like the bracket in the photo circled in green posted by 66andBlue, however is different than the oil cooler bracket shown in same post
-
What is the difference in your opinion? I am pretty sure that one in the green circle is the one shown mounted on the oily engine.
-
The photo of the bracket circled in green has threads pointing up from the bracket designed for a bolt coming from the bottom side. The oily engine bracket is attached from the top with a hex head bolt and washer.
-
The bracket on the right is for the RH Horn it extends the horn bracket
-
Search for 1135400273 on the SL shop site Horn bracket
-
Are you sure?
-
I remember an old post about Horn brackets and I forget which car, 250SL or 280Sl Late model.
One of my cars have a similar bracket and one does not.
So it could be for the horns, I think the drivers side on a left hand drive car is where it goes.

Could it be the bracket that is on the top of the throttle valve that holds the fuel line to CSV? Looks like it. Chumps
-
The throttle body was one of my first thoughts, but it is different one (picture).
I am attaching a handful of various brackets pictures, maybe useful.
-
Thanks Pawell66 for posting the bracket photos, it was helpful to review those locations. I have my brackets installed per the photos and still have one left over. It did not come from the top of the throttle body. My configuration does not have a support bolt there suitable for a bracket (and we did not disassemble this area).
-
The bracket on throttle body is held by a screw. The hole for this screw is in front of the throttle body, close to its upper edge. The bracket is different, it is bent twice. There is a smaller clamp that is screwed to the bracket that holds the fuel line that runs to Cold Start Valve.
I looked at my car and I do not have this bracket. The only place that it would fit is holding the air line to CSV, the location on the picture of the red car. I have a differnet one there, not sure if what I have is original though.
-
Thank you to all who replied with suggestions. One bracket was identified for the gas tank. The other bracket remains a mystery. If I figure this out in the future, I will post the location.
-
Have a look here, it looks like number 22 on page 12, i think Pawel already posted a picture of this page, but this gives a description as well, although it's not clear where it's actually fitted

Yes that is the bracket #22 and it uses clip#36 (I have both parts leftover), I saw this before my original post. It is listed on the fuel injection page but does not state where it goes, I have looked at many photos of this area and do not see this bracket. My fuel injection lines all appear to have the appropriate bracket installed - I thought someone would recognize this part quickly.
-
I believe parts #22 & #36 are the ones that Joe mentioned in his reply #17.
Those were on my M127 engine (230SL) with the R11 injection pump. Why would you have those left over? You have a M130 engine and a 280SL correct?
-
I have the M130 engine 1968 280SL.
-
??? Then how come you have these two parts? I am confused now.
On my 1968 280SL the bracket is a different one and in a different location.
-
I have the same brackets on the fuel injection pump that you do. My leftover bracket came from an unknown location. Perhaps it was added when the car was worked on previously and is not original
