Title: Limited Slip Diff
Post by: Pinder on February 18, 2022, 02:13:09
So apparently my car has a limited slip diff. I recall I had topped up the fluids probably with the same stuff that  goes into a regular diff. Have I made a big mistake or can I just drain it out  and top up with the correct oil? It seems to work fine.

Hi,
Limited Slip Diffs need special oil, see workshop manual, according to MB 235.3.

I recently replaced my Diff oil ( Limited Slip ) Also.
Used Lucas 90 (Hopanoid ) most of the diff oils now sold are Hopanoid.

I use a 100% synthetic gear lube with a LSD additive. Axle should growl when making sharp left or right turns at slow speed. That's the clutches slipping and nothing to worry about. Much louder if the additive isn't used.

Hei,
yes try a 75W90 or 80W90 Hypoid with LS oder LSD additive. For example Mobilube Syn LS 75W90 or 80W-90. Take care, Martin
