This tapping sound started recently.
https://youtu.be/nj5CTHLDKtU
It appears to be in the front by the fan. Any suggestions on what it might be or where to start troubleshooting?
-
it seems to be synchron with one belt turn ?
Mark one belt each time and try to count?
-
Yes, it is in sync with the engine rev and goes faster when you increase the rev
-
So you can identify what belt is involved and have a look all around it and find what tilt it
-
Sounds a lot like an exhaust leak to me.
-
Had some warmer weather for a few days so I was able to get it up on ramps and look from underneath. It looks like the alternater belt is slapping and upon closer inspection, there is a few chunks missing in it. New belts are on order.

Got the new belts in and no more tapping sound so all is good again....until the next thing :P
