Title: Stub axle/brake line part number/interchange
Post by: glennard on May 14, 2005, 05:46:52
Help.  Prior owner broke off the two cap screws that hold the brake line from the caliper to king pin plate.  Anybody know this part number or if a 111 body part or a fintail 60's model can be interchanged.  Drill out an option?   Thanx.

Two are listed: part # 000912 006064 and 000912 006170.
Seems like they are 6mm (allen head)bolts but different lengths.

Can not comment on possibility of drilling them out (not been there yet) - sorry.

What car?  Girling or Teves brakes?

My 230SL book shows:

000912 006024 - Cylindrical head screw, brake line to steering knuckle (x2)
000912 006039 - Cylindrical head screw, brake line to steering knuckle (x2)
007980 006000 - Lock washer (x4)

These hold the small metal brake line that wraps around the king pin.

If you can get a set of left handed drill bits these things are the best for removing broken bolts. Mine came as a set with easy outs. Easy outs never seem to work as they seem to expand the bolt in the hole and can break off leaving you with a new problem. Those left handed bits though heat the part and most of the time the broken bolt just spin right out while drilling. These are a real must for your toolbox.

Yes. Both screws,2off @different lengths, and connector pipe fitting can be interchanged with W 111.
Cheers,
Mike.

They won't drill out easily. Allen screws are much harder than standard grade 5 screws.

Mike et al,  Is the stub axle/king pin and plate assembly  inerchangeable with a 111 body or any other fin tail body?
