Title: Transmission Fluid Leak
Post by: tarheel on November 13, 2021, 22:17:05
Hello:

My 1969 280SL is leaking about an inch diameter puddle of tranny fluid per day.  A bit more now that it is colder temperatures outside.

I believe it is coming from the location seen here in this picture.

Does this connection look correct to you?  I was unable to tighten further.  I am surprised there is no gasket here - only metal to metal fitting on my vehicle.

Please help me diagnose this leak based upon what is seen here and solve it.  My mechanic has (sadly) passed and I am trying to work with my Pop to resolve the leaky transmission system.

If I recall correctly there is a seal ring there. Copper or aluminum squeezable seal ring. Just replace it maybe.
