Title: interior mirror
Post by: mkhadir on May 09, 2005, 21:03:11
Hello all

I need to replace the interior rear view mirror on my 230sl.

I've found someone who has a 220se (W111) coupe mirror - Does anyone know if this will suit before I ask them to ship it to me?

Regards

Hello Mubeen,
Yes the W111 coupe also shared this rare early chrome mirror and should be the same if it is the original.
Some early sedans were also the same except the stem was a little longer.

I recently replaced mine with a black plastic rearview...I was told that the old chrome mirror was a safety hazard.    Is this true or should I seek out a chrome mirror instead?

Only when your wife finds out how much you paid for it!!  :?

Back to serious (for a second), somewhere I heard that the shiny chrome mirror was considered dangerous to on-coming traffic (because it is shiny). Using this logic, I think the whole car can be dangerous -- as people are inclined to stare at how cool it is...

From what I understand, the early chrome ones are hard to find -- so many opt for the plastic. Others use a similar chrome one found on sedans...
