Title: Is this window genuine
Post by: Powerflex on October 01, 2021, 11:25:15
I am wanting to change the left hand side window because it is scratched due to a poorly adjusted winder mechanism.

I was going to order a Mercedes one but I have these marks on both windows and wondered if it was aftermarket.

If so I'll order both sides to match

Any ideas?

On my 1970 280 SL, both windows have the Sekurit logo as you show in your photo.

Can you get replacement glass with that logo?

Apparently light scratches can be removed with a compound called cerium oxide, never tried it myself, although i keep meaning to try it on one of my windows

There are mobile companies who can remove deeper scratches, although i don't know how successful they are

Shame to replace original glass if it can be polished

Today you get the MB star logo on the window glass.

Yes, glass with light scratches can be easily polished and there are many DIY kits to do so. It just takes time and patience. I didn’t think you could get the Sekurit logo on replacement glass. Only the MB logo. Ok if that is the only option you have.
