1969 280sl usa version
What is this at the top of my block?
Does something connect to it?
thanks
-
Is it where the rev counter shaft connects? Do not laugh at me.
-
That’s right Powell, rev counter connection
-
Rev counter? So the tachometer?
-
Yes, the tachometer - I assume yours does not work? Unless it was somehow converted to electronic ...
-
I am putting my car back together, the tachometer is not yet installed. it will be cable driven
Do you know the part number for the tachometer cable?
-
A 113 542 07 07
It is 1300mm. NLA at Mercedes, yo need to find it elsewhere. SLS would have it, so would Niemoeller probably, but you are the US, perhaps better to look for it at Authentic Classics or Bud's Benz.
-
got it, thanks

Only slightly related to this thread. It is not uncommon for the rev counter insert in the block to leak oil. Many years ago, the fellows here and I chased down why mine had a bit oil seeping out. Never really went all the way away. If I can find the thread I will "tach" it on here. (see what I did there?)
See attached: Was it really that long ago! And so many great names there. Naj was the best. Viewed 13185 times -- so its worth sharing...

Edward,
In case you didn't know, from interactions with this forum you'll find that Pawel has near instantaneous recall on every Pagoda part number 🤣 ;)
-
Yeah it's great, I'll look at that side thread
