Title: How to ruin a classic car
Post by: Merc_Girl on August 28, 2021, 08:45:38
Hi everyone

As you may well have gathered, I’m more than happy to add ‘modern’ parts to little Bessy.

However, replacing the lovely brightwork with black chrome (?), really?!?!.

You’ll love the price too!!

I am not a fan of the black out craze!   While it looks good on some vehicles with certain fittings, it’s way overdone

Silverstone Classics auctioned it a while ago in Dubai.

Someone actually bought it!!!

Mind you, you mentioned James that it was sold in Dubai, so that may well explain things! 😉

Chrome is not that easy to get anymore due to environmental regulations. Maybe this isn't "black chrome" but some other surface finish

Hi Mike
Not sure when the work was done. As it’s pretty horrible ‘upgrade’, they should have saved their money and just done chrome 🤣

It’s a Mechatronik car. The black is a choice. They clearly do chrome but someone (client most likely) specced black

.

You’d get reported to the RSPCA nowadays for doing that to your dog 🤣

I know but didn’t know when it was done?

As they say, money can’t buy you taste! Or another saying, just because you can do it, doesn’t mean you should! 🤣🤣

A new twist on an old classic?  I can think of better ways to spend that money.

How about this custom ride?  They achieved this look with the extensive use of fiberglass.  Like you said money doesn't buy...

I saw that on Facebook. Now that car is well and truly ruined. You can't even go round corners without breaking the fenders...

I'm sure that low rider is on airbags.

I wouldn't mind the front of my wife's Pagode to be a tad lower.

I know this is an old post but thought I would chime in about the Pete the pup dog, from Our  Gang. Max Factor the Hollywood make up artist did this to the dog. He used a dye that wouldn't wash off. Hal Roach the director said what the heck leave it on. It made the dog one of the most recognized in the world. Petey the pup starred in many many silent movies and was poisoned in 1930 by some one who held a grudge against the owner.

Starchild,

That’s some detail trivia.

Sooooo……. We’re you one of the “Our Gang” performers?  Or?
