Title: How in the heck did they do that in the factory
Post by: johnk on August 27, 2021, 03:02:08
Many times during my restoration I wondered how in the heck did they do “that” in the factory. Recently I have tried several times twisted  like a pretzel to secure the speedometer on the back side of the dash.

That’s the most baffling task for me as to How they did that on the assembly line. Other items I would love to have see them do is installing the bolts behind the fan blades, aligning the hood, installing the hood spring and installing the rest of the parts behind the dash.

Speedo installed with cable already attached?  Even then something tells me that was the job you got when you came in to work hung over.  OK Helmut.  You are on Speedometers today.  Do it again and you go on the Cosmoline gun.

Plus after 20 of them I bet you develop an approach and you get good at it. Small hands (women?) would also come in handy haha.
