Unlabeled in a box... I assume it's fuel as there's no debris inside it...
-
Since there's no bead on it I can only think that it's become seperated from the bottom of the coolant expansion tank.
-
Is the other end clean or looks like cut? If cut, this may be the piece that goes to throttle.
-
I think I can see pictures of my expansion tank and don't think it's from there.... Here's a picture of my tank.
Where on the throttle?
It's a piece of generic rubber pipe cut to size with jubilee clips at both ends...and the metal pipe angle.
-
From the breather to the throttle. If it is cut, it maybe from there. At least in 280SL this pipe was longer. Maybe on earlier cars it looked like this.
-
If its fuel would still smell like fuel, did you take a wiff of it?
-
The "cheese slicer" hose clamps are not original to anything on our cars.
(Maybe that comment isn't helpful.)
Is it the same diameter as the pipe that carries coolant along the right frame rail? It looks like a smaller diameter.
-
Hey Joe... I've sniffed at it but the car has been apart for 8 months so no smell... I do think it may be from the file lines around the fuel pump.
I totally agree that those cheese grater clips look terrible but haven't given in to forking out the crazy money for them. Has anyone found a supply of the original ones at a reasonable price?
-
Col my car has been in bits for 20 years and the fuel hoses still reek of petrol, just saying....
-
Smells like rubber pipe ;D
