I have a 1969 with a manual shift. Recently I had difficulty finding third gear. I purchased and installed new bushings. The shifter is quite firm now but, my problem has not gone away. After using reverse I have difficulty finding first gear. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ted

Is your clutch fully disengaging?

Since it's first and third that indicates to me that the shifter rod may not be properly set (fore/aft) on the transmission spline.
I assume by "find" that you mean engage in the gear.

1. The clutch is working properly. I am able to engage and disengage the clutch.
2. I am unable to find the gear means when I am in reverse and look for first, I find third. When I am in second I can't find third. I am not grinding gears, I just can't position the gearshift to access the gears as I was able to do until recently.
