Title: Differential Fluid / Oil - LSD
Post by: Benz280 on July 01, 2021, 00:45:47
Conversations identify that LSD 's use a different oil .
In the event that special LSD oil was not used, what are the results.
Will change come the fall when the car is on the lift for that annual prep for sleep.

I just changed my rear differential oil but mine does not have a LSD. I experienced quite a bit of noise from the rear end when driving at higher speeds and was always told that it was normal for Pagodas and other older Mercedes. I replaced my 90W oil after calling Redline Oil and discussing what they had or recommended given the noise I was dealing with. They recommend their 75W140 NS GL-5 oil. I have to say the noise was greatly reduced and I have been happy with the quality of their products. I also use their transmission fluid with great results as well.https://www.redlineoil.com/ (https://www.redlineoil.com/)

You may want to give them a call and discuss your LSD and get their recommendation.

An LSD has "friction plates" in it. So, you would assume it needs a different oil than just hypoid gear oil.

I use a synthetic 80 w 90 gear oil with an LSD additive.
