Title: Oil hose to replace?
Post by: yves on June 07, 2021, 17:32:44
Hi all, while i was checking the steering oil level , i had a look to the upper oil hose going to the oil radiator and i saw some very little cracks on it....
As i have replaced all the coolant hoses some months ago, i wonder if i have to replace that hose ?
I think it's a 20 years old hose .... and i don't know the fatigue life for theese hoses...  :-\
It seems "oily" when i touch it

If it seems oily as you say then definitely change it. It’s an oil cooler hose, be careful when you unscrew it from the oil cooler so that you don’t damage the cooler itself since the fitting is weak and prone to failure.

I would check the lower oil coolant hose while you’re at it.   I just replaced both of mine and finding those hoses were difficult here stateside, especially the lower oil-engine hose.  I replaced using Cohline hoses without difficulty.  Got both on eBay!

You have the original type replaceable hose fittings, don't throw them away!!!!

There is a post here for the correct hose to buy so you simply replace the hose and reuse the fittings. Sure, it is a bit of a hassle to change, but you will never be reliant on buying a premanufactured hose assembly.

If you don't want to reuse the fittings, let me know and I will pay the shipping for them.
