Title: 67 230sl
Post by: Bconley759 on May 27, 2021, 12:04:49
Well pretty excited just put some color on the bottom of my car, was a lot of work just to get here. Planning on spraying undercoating in the fender wells that factory used, need some help.

I used U-pol Gravitex. I think it looks close to original and is paintable. I like it. If interested I can send you a better picture.

Yea definitely I need to get it done, can’t find an original description. The original undercoating was pretty bullet proof

Here are a couple of pics to give you an idea of the texture. I sprayed my whole underbody and any area I figured could use some. If you are after strictly original, you may want to check out:

I am not sure if all cars had undercoating and if they were all spayed in the same fashion.
Other members used different undercoating. The U-pol was recommended and as you probably know, needs a special gun to spray. I sprayed the coating prior to paint. I also painted the underbody afterwards. I believe originally it was only slightly "over-sprayed". I will post some after paint pic tonight.
