Hello pagodas fans.
My problem is (280SL / 70 / Automatic):
I brake from normal velocity on zero. The speed of the engine sinks slowly to neutral speed. But then. Shortly before stopping, the speed increases on over 2,000 Rpm. I must give inter-gas 1 - 2 ones.
It then lasts about 4 -5 seconds, till the engine sinks to normal speed on 800 - 850 Rpm. Only then I can insert switching Step P.
I have already stopped the valves and the ignition completely. It is baffling for me, this can due to what be. Does this have to do something perhaps with the push-switching, off which gave it only at U.S. engines?

Hello Srern,
USA 280SLs had an "Vacuum throttle control" on the intake venturi linkage. A special linkage with a "slip joint" was also used between the venturi and the cross-over linkage rod on the engine. If you have a factory shop manual with the USA versions look on page 07-14/7. It gives the procedure to adjust the unit.
Adjust the slip joint linkage so it is fully compressed with the engine running and warm at idle in nuetral. Adjust the vacuume control/linkage to zero clearance. Now with the transmission in gear, the throttle lever will open 1.0 mm to 1.5 mm.
Make sure the other engine linkages are set correctly before beginning this procedure.
Good Luck

Hello Jo.
Thank you for your answer.
I have already imagined that there are some little differents by my car, the injection-system and the Motor.
Unfortunately, MB Classic doesn't have any data sheets over the U.S. version.
Could you copy me the sheets 07-14 and send me by fax?
I would be very grateful. And if you need something, perhaps cheaply here in Germany, I am glad to help you.
