hello all, this hoist has probably already been described somewhere on this site but I can't find it at the moment,, I'm thinking about getting this particular hoist for my hardtop. Its advertised for 380/450sl's and 129's but won't it also accommodate a w113 hardtop? https://www.ebay.com/itm/STO-AWAY-CarTop-Hoist-for-MB-380-450-129-SLs-and-others-NEW-NEVER-USED-/174017491095.
thanks for your help, charles

I have no idea what they are selling...
I finally bought this one. Just modified the side hook points as I was afraid of hard top headliner.

ok, thanks Pawel. I went ahead and ordered a hoist from Adsit - https://www.adsitco.com/parts/detail/Mercedes/hardtop-hoist/5217/). Looks like a pretty good hoist and price w/shipping appeared reasonable.

Charles,
Be very careful with the gutter grip hoists, they can fail if not tightly fitted and i suggest you have a secondary strap around the top as a safety strap.
Don’t ask how i know, but.

Charles,
I clicked the link but didn't see a picture of the hoist adsitco.com are offering. In due course can you post a picture of what you receive.

thanks for the head's up Garry. I thought the Adsit hoist didn't use gutter grips - but I best confirm before it ships!

Here.
Thanks Pawel, I have seen his picture but it isn't clear enough to show anything about the lifting arrangement or how it attaches to the hard top.

Garry is right, better safe than sorry! I use a safety strap with mine. The hardtop only weighs a little over 100 pound (about 50 kg) so the gutter grips are fine if from a good quality supplier and care is taken in the attachment process. This is usually a twice a year job for me and I never do it in a rush.
