Title: Seat Padding
Post by: Mpgeslak on February 13, 2021, 19:24:11
Hi All,

I have new foam seat padding and have a basic question:  what is the best way to secure the fam padding to the metal frame?  Should I be thinking glue or some type of fastener?

Thanks for any tips,

Michael

Michael

I did mine last year, some pics from my Google photos..

It is worth reading the Tech Manual here for removal and dismantling tips.

I replaced the foreward holding down bolts with "Allen" screws for ease of access.

The new foam just slipped over the frame, and I did cover it with cloth for ease of slipping the leather cover on, look out for some broken springs when you dismantle.

Have a loo at the pictures, it was quite an easy job.

I am happy to answer any questions that may develope.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the photos.  I did read the tech manual and some posts to get everything apart, thanks.  Good news is no broken springs!

I was thinking that the new foam pads needed to be secured to the metal frame like the hoars hair ones that I removed, which were secured with what looks like c hog rings (?).

Seems like you used the leather covers to keep them in position?  Did you do this for the backrest also?

Thanks for your help,

Michael

Hi Michael

I did not renew the backrest pads, as they seemed ok.

Keep safe
