Title: Hood safety catch colour

Hi
What colour should the hood safety catch be?  I have only found one picture of a possibly original car and it was unpainted.

I think it’s black CAD. Not painted.

I did a yellow cad on mine, but I think originally it was gray cad.

Definitely not yellow cad. Mine is a dark gray color not quite black. If it were paint, the wear surface (back of the hook} would be completely gone.  There is only a thin line worn to bare metal.  A very tough coating!
