Title: Finally Putting my 86 911 Turbo up for auction
Post by: johnk on December 19, 2020, 18:18:20
Those of you that know me personally know that I have an 1986 Porsche 930 turbo that I have been talking about selling. Its an interesting car with a number of "Special Wishes or 930s" type mods made by the original owner. Well I finally have it listed on Bring-A-trailer now. In retrospect I should have put the restoration of my Pagoda aside for a few months a couple of years ago rather than procrastinating until now. However sales of these cars have seen somewhat stronger since the pandemic began. If any of you Porsche enthusiasts want to see what is different in my car it can be seen at https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1986-porsche-911-turbo-70/.

I am not really sharing this in hopes of finding a buyer on our site. I just didn't want to be guilty of posting it under the wrong topic.

Fantastic car! Thank you for sharing with us. Wishing you had it in Europe, I would have been mightily tempted...
Best of luck with the sale, it should do very well.

Thank you Francois.  I appreciate the encouragement. I will admit I am a bit nervous.

I am not familiar with formal (or let’s say mediated) sales processes, but this BAT seems both useful and (from remarks by other members of this group) favoring, at least slightly, sellers. It is probably a little bit more taxing emotionally (intense/involved), but maybe worth it financially? I have only bought and sold cars on a person to person basis, and from my experience I would say it is probably a bit less exact (the price discovery process, as the economists say, is not efficient, as there is no transparency), but you can ratchet the ‘pressure’ that you submit yourself to up or down, at will.

It is a lot of work taking all of the pictures and videos, organizing them, etc

Nice looking car, GLWTA.  I've never been a fan of whale tails.

John, you could have saved yourself the effort. I would have paid you $40,000 anytime and pick the car up locally.... :P :P
