I am about to replace the rubber doughnut but wanted to know which part of it should be down? The center hole is not centered. Also the new transmission mount i ordered has red dot on it. Is there any significance to the red dot
-
The red dot indicates it is a mount for "normal" road conditions.

thanks. thats good to know.
Any thoughts on the doughnut center bearing on drive shaft? I think the fat part of the dougnut is to be on the bottom ?

I have sent my driveshaft off for rebuilding so I cannot check easily...but I think because it has two "button like" protrusions on the outer diameter which locate it, you can only install it correctly as far as up and down is concerned. I think you could possibly put it in back to front though. My car is early and has a grease nipple fitted which is accessible via a hole in the donut. This means you can't go wrong.

On mine I can fit it either way. Ill see which way makes the most straight alignment.
-
Are you talking about the rubber one?
-
Yes thats the one. Mine is a280sl
-
I have a 230. Mine has to go in the position you see (grease nipple). Yours should be similar conceptually.

Ok thanks for the picture. It helps.
