Hello
Need help in determining if 250SL, VIN no: 11304310001297 Engine no: 129982-10-000670 still out there? I have owners pouch including Service booklet with data card printed on of white paper, maps/service stations (Africa, America, Asien, Australien) and owners handbook/manual in German. I purchased pouch and contents on EBay about 8 years ago, I was after Becker radio manual. Would love to reunite pouch and contents with car, if still in existence, and current owner. I DO NOT WANT TO SELL IT.
As per service booklet, car was first serviced A1 miles 180-600 @ German Auto Repair, 5566 Holt Blvd., Montclair, California on 15 June 1967. Car had 3 further services @ German Auto Repair.
From 4th of June 1970 car was serviced @ same address but dealer name changed to Autohaus Montclare. Last service @ this dealership on 9th of September 1971 (56592 miles)
From 20th of April 1972 car was serviced @ Kurt’s Auto Repair, 218 San Lorenzo St., Pomona, Calif. 91767. Last service stamp in booklet @ same dealer on the 15th of June 1972

The closest one in the Car Registry (Tech Manual) is vin #1248. I also checked the vins of the some of the early 250sl's in our area. Close but no cigar. Hopefully the owner of #1297 participates in the forum and sees this post. That would be quite the story :)

Hi Guys,
I notice a small misunderstanding here. Corne does not own the above mentioned 250SL. Read again. He bought the pouch with booklets off ebay, in order to get hold of the radio manual.
He actually owns a 230SL, which he restored to a very high standard and I am privileged to have seen a few times.
Corne has assisted me with various parts for my 250 SL, for which I am dearly grateful.

I think your original owner was Wolfgang R. Buege. He was an Optometrist in Claremont CA. Since the info I found was not flattering I won't share the link.
I Googled the VIN and it showed up with a "JY" in front of it on a Hebei Province government website. When you open the page it isn't there but I have a sneaking suspicion it may have been imported into China?

And if that is correct, we do have three Full and two Associate Chinese Members in the Group. They are all live in Hong Kong if it was exported from US.

Your vin is very close to my 250sl . Mine is 001533. Bought is Italy in July 1967
