Title: 1969 280SL engine shut-off
Post by: TBaker on November 16, 2020, 19:15:40
Recently when I turned the ignition off, the engine and fuel pump continued to run and the only way I could get them to stop was by shutting the driver side door or pushing the door button.  Any idea what is going on?

Is it possible that that you have a loose wire in the steering column?

The light for your door and the low-level warning on your brake fluid canister is on the same circuit. Pacing a diode on the circuit will fix that.

Dan, Isn't it also true that if TBaker adds the correct amount of brake fluid, the issue will be gone as long as the circuitry is "correct" and working as intended?
Take care,
Mark

Sure. Sometimes though, that can't be done in a remote location, or the float will become disconnected and/or leak which makes the fluid level warning system inoperative.
