No financial interest in this, helping friends sell their 1967 230SL, number 14580 showing 31,744 miles, believed to have rolled over once. I resuscitated this car earlier this year after approximately ten year’s indoor storage. It received a new battery, rebuilt short pump, new Dansk fuel tank, and Timevalve exhaust in addition to a complete fluid service. The car starts, runs and drives well. Can be enjoyed as is, with good upside potential for improvements.
Some specifics:
- Automatic transmission and air conditioning
- Originally 158 white gray, now silver with black hard and soft tops
- Black ‘tex interior and carpets
- Soft top in poor condition
- Aftermarket stereo
- All instruments except tachometer functioning
- Engine compartment clean but not detailed
- Few miles on expensive ($30K) factory engine
- Front sheet metal replaced and car was painted at some point
- Cosmetic issues include scratches on trunk lid
- Michelin XWX whitewalls are old but show no sun damage or flat spots
$36K or reasonable offer.
PM or email me for more information.
Cheers,
Chuck

Chuck,
That sounds like a fantastic deal for a running/driving Pagode.
The seller should get their price !!
Take care,
Mark

My 230SL from Oct. 1966 is number 18381, so someone changed a title somewhere along the line.

Yup, my 66 is 16679

Well Rodd, It looks like our cars must have been in the paint booth together. My number is 18378. Delivered to a dealer in Hannover Germany, October 7th 1966. 8)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
I am beginning to understand that this is not a great place to sell a car. So far, the post has only attracted associate members whose only posts have been efforts to buy cars and flip them. My honest description of the car was used as a stick to beat the price down.
I was really hoping to attract potential buyers who want a place to start their Pagoda adventure. Oh well. On to The Star and Hemmings.
Cheers,
CAT

Hi CAT
That’s very sad to hear that. I thought the price was very good but sadly not in the market myself to buy one
Those who contacted you should be ashamed of themselves
Unfortunately I don’t think there is a way in which the group can stop such people registering

This is too bad Chuck. Perhaps those of us who are serious enthusiasts ... already have a Pagoda. Mark it up to $45K and sell it on the other platforms is what I would do.
-
That’s a real shame Chuck, I thought the price was really good for a starter. Like Cees said up the price and list in the normal places.
Appears we have some flippers lurking around. Hard to monitor and manage.
-
If you have a car that you need to part with quickly these would be your guys. As long as you had it priced at 25 points below wholesale that is.
-
I am in the market and I think you priced it right. However I really want a manual car, so I am trying to stay focused. If it were manual I would have been all over it. I assume there are some rust issues....?

Glad you managed to sell your friend’s car
Hopefully the behaviours of some, has not clouded your thoughts and other experiences of this wonderful portal for Pagoda owners
