Title: W11x 1968 coupe Rear End Camber after rebuild
Post by: stewarttt on November 13, 2020, 19:21:47
I have just installed the rear end back in a 1968 w111 coupe that I am restoring. ( see pics below ).
The camber is way off and I assume that is because there is no weight in the car at the moment.
Since the left side axle and differential housing are at a slight downward angle and not level, the tubular carrier rubber mount is being twisted at a slight angle and I was concerned about the this rubber carrier mount being damaged. Am I worried about nothing, and will the axle and camber level out once I put the engine and trans back in the vehicle?

Some weight and a bit of driving should help. Thinner rubber pads under the cross spring may help also. You might also adjust the spring bases to a lower setting. I would wait until it is loaded and driven-in before trying to adjust anything. Nice work, the car looks great!

Thank you, Just about all of my knowledge about restoring one of these cars has come from this website which I have been reading and using for the past seven years. Again, very much appreciated.
