Title: Old Pictures of our SL
Post by: MikeSimon on October 14, 2020, 16:51:35
Digging through my SL files, I found a few old photos
Back when I still lived in Germany, a few of us local SL owners got together ever so often to kick tires. At times, we had up to eight W113s showing up.
We usually met in Hochheim/Main, a town between Frankfurt, Mainz and Wiesbaden. The get-together was originally started by two brothers who both had Pagodas.
The guy with the R107 was a close friend of mine.
Maybe some of our members from the Rheinhessen/Rheingau area recognize some of the cars by their license plates.
The plates that are hard to read are RÜD-CV(or N) 517 and SWA-SL ???

What a pleasure looking at these old pictures Mike!

Is your 280sl all original then or have you done any restoration work to it?

By the way, I know Mainz, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt of course.

I grew up in a small town near Trier called Hermeskeil very close to a US base. About 70 miles from Mainz.

What a small world........

Sven

Sven, the car is original and it is not. It has never been restored, but I bought it in 1982 from a mechanic who had it repaired after an accident. It received a new front right fender and a new hood and was repainted in 1980/81. In 1987 the engine was overhauled with a new crank and oversize pistons. The pictures are 1984/85
