On a twist of the standard question (i.e. what's wrong), what do you notice about this picture that is right. Hint-frequently missing item.
Best,
Tom

My guess is the small black rubber strip around the edge of the tail light. Although I believe on the later cars, the strip on the tail light, and the strip on the chrome piece between the tail lights are different.

OK, I'll play.
It's the (often missing) rubber seal for the chrome strip BETWEEN the tail light and the trunk latch chrome.
NOW, for an even more difficult question, who has a set I can buy??

Johnny and Tom,
Yes and yes. Some may not be aware that there is a small plastic piece between the chrome for the tail light and the body/paint. There is a separate soft seal behind the light that keeps the electrical dry.
On many cars the harder plastic piece is removed when the car is painted and not re-installed. The piece is no longer available from the dealer.
Best,
Tom

If you do have a 230SL, it would be incorrect to have them, according to Gernold and Pete Lesler. See the thread at http://sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=1350

Great news/info.
I was having a tough time finding this seal, now I don't need to bother.
