Title: Temperature gauge reading
Post by: GM on September 02, 2020, 17:54:45
Took my car out for a spin this morning - 70° clear at the beach - and the temp gauge is showing low temp after 30 minutes of driving. The level doesn't rise above the mid-point hash mark between the bottom square and the 180°F square, where it used to run constantly. Heater works fine.
A little history:
- 4 months ago had the same problem, so I replaced the thermostat (79°, MB part)
- temp continued to drop until went to zero
- took out the temp gauge and sent to PA Speedo for repair
- installed repaired gauge/probe, temp went to 180°
- for the past few drives temp has been lower again
So now I don't know (1) is it ok to run where it is, (2) might my thermostat be defective, and should I replace it again, or (3) do I need to look at something else?
Thanks

Sounds like all of the gas leaked out of your gauge. Once it's empty it won't work at all. I would send it back - they will fix it for you.

Ugh - that's worse than replacing the thermostat! Thanks, I guess... :o
