Post by: mcclainjlkcmsncom on August 25, 2020, 23:35:40
Was wondering does anybody know some of the differences between these two engines.Mine is in a 1972 280 SE .I'd like to know things like engine timing, idle speed, vacuum and anything you can think of off hand.
Thanks Jim.

Hi,
you can find some differences in the workshop manual (W108-113, 1968), chap. 00, e.g. ignition see att. file.

The M130 engine 1972 should have all the latest changes, which are quite a few. The factory BBB latest version describes them in detail. Be sure to get the late BBB printed or re-printed after 1971 to make sure you get the information. English versions are available on CD from The Classic Center or find used versions on Ebay.  You could also do a WTB on this site.
