I'm trying to locate a hood for my 1970 280SL, my hood can not be salvaged.
-
They are available new from Mercedes.
Don't forget to salvage the nut plates from the old one!
-
Do you have a link that I can go to.
-
Just go to any Mercedes dealer and tell them you want one of these:
A1138800056
and they can order it for you.
I hope your insurance is paying though!

Going to hijack this post with a General question on the body numbers found under the hood.
I often see the number '2' next to the 3-digit body number. Eg: 566-2
Someone once told me the "-2" denotes that a replacement hood was made. Sounds plausible - can anyone back that up? Tried looking up old posts for the answer but couldn't find it.

Thank you so much, called Mercedes and they have them in Germany. Price tag $6000 but when your old hood is to messed up then there is no option. Though it's nice to know that Mercedes has items for my car.

$3700 - depending on what dealer you go to.

I went to MB Direct and they do not show parts for any vehicles built before the 1984 models. To get the new hood from Mercedes for W113 you have to go to your local Mercedes dealer and order it through them. This is the part number that the hood for a 1970 280SL A1138800056. The price tag is $6000.

... but did you look at Kampala's post above, about where to get it for $3,700?
-
I was able to look at the link and the hood does look in good shape but, Reflections Paint and Body came up with another idea and that was to measure out the left side of the hood frame then manufacture the same thing for the damage on the right side. It's a cheaper route to take and this will salvage the original hood. If this doesn't work then I'll be heading to get that hood for sure.

I believe one of the regular suppliers (Buds Benz) supplies the hood frame on its own, or at least a repair section.
