Title: W113 Thermo Time Switch alternative
Post by: Paul Cain on August 12, 2020, 04:45:16
My 1965 230SL was having cold start issues. This forum was very beneficial in diagnosing the root cause - a defective Thermo Time Switch.   After the sticker shock of shopping for the OEM replacement part, I did some research on this device and quickly discovering it was a core Bosch technology used on other OEM engines up through the 1980s.

The attached slides are an overview of the original TTS device and Bosch alternative that is 1/4 the price of the Mercedes part. Same supplier, same guts, different mating connector.

To the prior SL113 posters on this topic, a big 'thank you' for quickening the diagnosis.

Here are the full details......

Excellent info. This needs to be added to the tech manual. I will be linking it to FIPi 👍

Unfortunately this item is almost impossible to find and replacement or alternatives are incredibly difficult to have .

Porsche TTS substitute currently on eBay $168…… https://www.ebay.ca/itm/363695130656.    You will also need the electrical connector, also on eBay…cheap.
