Title: Propeller shaft disassembly
Post by: EeVeeWee on July 23, 2020, 19:59:08
Before putting the propeller shaft back, I want to replace the rubber donut and the grooved ball bearing in the middle.
But my 230 SL 1965 shaft seems different from the Haynes manual, because there is no hexagonal nut for disassembly.
Does anybody know if the visible blocked washer with recesses is a nut?

It's a nut. You will need a special pin socket to remove it.

Once you loosen the nut, the washer will come out easy.
(not as elegant as described above but I used a flat punch to unscrew the nut)
