Title: US Spec headlight bracket color, 1970 280SL
Post by: Francis Abate on July 09, 2020, 22:56:25
Can someone tell me if these were painted body color or clear plated / galvanized?  The ones on a current resto project were painted partially from from previous bodywork so I am not sure which is correct.

Are you asking about the small bracket at the bottom of the headlight bucket, where the chrome frame screws into? Or the one at the top with the slot that chrome frame fits/hangs from? Or something else?

I believe the two on my car are painted body color, but it is a restoration so may not be correct. Have not looked lately at the ones on the 280 SL

Boy, I was off the mark on where I was looking this time! I thought it was the small place the headlight unit screws go into.
