Title: Los Angeles area restoration referrals
Post by: tonylipp on June 21, 2020, 23:22:56
Hello all.

Having learned the sad news of Tom Colitt’s passing, I was wondering if anyone had any other referrals as I’m looking to restore my 1970 280SL. The car is a solid, attractive driver but I’m ready to really take it up a notch.

Thank you in advance!

Tony

Thanks. I’ve definitely thought about that. Was hoping for something local but may have to explore that.

I thought that I might try to resurrect this thread.

I am looking for someone good in the LA area to provide underbody rust repair on my 1966 230SL.  It's a good solid car (but for the rust) and I'd prefer not to have to sell any internal organs to get it back on the road.  It's presentable as is so it's really just a competent welding shop that knows how to work on these cars that I'm looking to connect with.

ANY help would be appreciated!

Jonathan

Hi,

I recommend Marvin's Automotive in Pasadena.
I've used Marvin since 2008 on many pagodas.
They are very knowledgeable and experienced in mechanical, body & paint, upholstery, and full or partial restoration.
I'm happy to talk with you if you'd like more info.

Cheers.
Cole

Marvin's is closed permanently, according to Google.

No, Marvin's is definitely open and in the process of moving.

Good!  Maybe Google confuses moving from a location with closing.

Also, Marvin and his team did much of the restoration of my '67 250SL last year that auctioned on BaT for $95K.

Thanks, Cole.  I spoke to Marvin a couple of weeks ago and he was interested in the project and was going to go take a look.  Unfortunately, he seems to have flaked.

Again, Marvin has been busy with the move and will be more available shortly.
Jonathan, I'll be seeing him in the next couple days and see what I can do to help.

Cheers.

Thank you, Cole.  I'd be delighted if you were able to get this project on his radar.  Summer will be here soon ...
