Title: King pin reamer
Post by: 230slhouston on June 08, 2020, 02:00:39
Hello,
Can someone please let me know what size reamer I need to ream  the king pin bushes.
A part number or where to buy will be appreciated. Not too expensive. Single use in my case.

Thanks,
Maistran.

When I did mine I bought this adjustable reamer for a whopping $11.  I see now it's $12.  It worked great, and I like having it adjustable so you can creep up on the correct size, checking the fit as you go.  Just be careful you don't over cut.

Peter,
Thanks.
How long are the cutting blades? Does it have to be long enough to ream both bushes at the same time?

Just checked it and the blades are 2.5" (~65mm) long, so one bushing at a time.  It's been a number of years since I used it, but my recollection is that it was no big deal to get a good fit, with not a lot of material removed.  Just start out with a real light cut and progress slowly.  It would really suck to over cut it.

You need a reamer that will be long enough to ensure both bushes are cut in the same axis. Mine has a centralising element.
If you cut each bush individually you will not be assured of correct alignment.
