Title: A few firewall related questions ... rubber ... wiring harness ...
Post by: col320ce on June 03, 2020, 13:29:12
Some questions about the firewall area of the car (w111 250SE/C):

I'm struggling to find the p/n for the grommets in the firewall. Main harness is 111 997 16 81 (42mm hole)
but I can't find the others ...
24mm in left footwell for wires going to the auto trans
34mm right hand side
19mm windscreen washer hose
19mm bonnet cable
24mm engine temp wire
25mm rubber in the boot/trunk behind the back seat

The firewall pad was held on with screws and the holes look original ... is this the way the pad should be held on??

There is an auxiliary fuse box on the RHS of the car that I assume is original for the radio.  Where is the box supposed to attach to the car?

Thanks!!

Maybe this will help. https://www.sls-hh-shop.de/main/de/mercedes-w111-w108-w114-98-a-gummit-llen-etc-sortiert-nach-bauart-c-5_222

Not sure of a kit for the W111 cars.

The pad should be help on by glue alone. Never seen screws that I am aware of. Maybe the glue gave up and they screwed it on to keep it from falling off.

The auxiliary power take off is for power accessories such as radio and also power windows and such. It should mount on the bracket just in front of the fuse box opening. I'll see if I can find a picture of mine.

Hi Wallace
Is the auxiliary fusebox mounted on the bracket with all the relays or on the part that the voltage regulator attaches to?
Thanks!

I believe this is the same bracket as yours, only mounted on the other side. I have LHD. On mine, I have the power window parts - (2) relays and terminal bock with fuses. You can see the voltage regulator mounted below that. Just to the rear is the auxiliary power box (with fuse) for the radio. That is the one with the silver knob.

The other view allows you to see the box better. You can also see one of the screw heads that hold the top plate to the bracket that is welded to the body.

I hope that helps.

Colin,

Also have a look at authentic classics website. They have quite a bit of detail for the W111 and it might help you out

Dear Peter

That is quite easy. Look at this link on eBay. I bought this item for two of my pagodas and it was a perfect fit.

Mercedes pagoda firewall grommet kit

Possibly a stupid question but the main wiring harness grommet needs to be put on from the engine side after installing the harness through the firewall (from cabin to engine bay)??
Thanks

Got it on... Pretty easy with the pipe technique.
