Post by: suzy on March 17, 2005, 13:44:26
i've got the Becker Europe radio in my 1970 280sl but the face plate doesn't seem to be attached so when i change stations, pushing the buttons pops the face plate off.

how should i secure the face plate? thanks

I think the faceplate is not the plastic part with the lines running horizontally on it, but the chrome bezel that surrounds the faceplate.
Actually on the DIN chassis of the radio, there are 4 small springs that are fastened to the chassis and slip into small slots on the bezel.  Possibly they are weak from age.  Try to pull the chassis out from the dash and bend the small spring clip tabs back a bit.
Hope this helps.

Douglas, actually the plastic part is not glued in any way to the chrome bezel, but held in by friction or tiny little black felt stickers.

The pinstriped plastic face is supposed to be glued to the chrome bezel.
