Title: Has hoist technology improved
Post by: ChrisInNashville on May 16, 2020, 18:20:04
After a long restoration and three moves, I have my old Easy Hoist in a storage closet.  But with my pagoda returning soon after a long restoration, I’m curious if any of you have found something better.  I’m single, so I’m looking for something that I can activate remotely while standing near the car to guide the hardtop up and down without risking scratches.

The Easy Hoist traditionally left dimples in my headliner and was clunky to use...plus, after 10 yrs, I’m not even sure I have the original Installation hardware...so one way or another, there’s a new purchase likely in my future.

I searched the archives and didn’t find much on this topic.  Does anyone have any experience with a newly emerged product?

I'd recommend Top Hoist (https://www.top-hoist.com/ (https://www.top-hoist.com/)) which I like because of the added security from the padded bar passing under the entire top (yet not touching the headliner). You can it for manual or electric assist.
The website doesn't show the Pagoda, but just ask for it - Matthew, the owner, knows which to provide and he is a big help.
Good luck!

Thank you Gary!   I was unfamiliar with them.

Do you have any issue with the bar damaging the rubber seals for the window?

For my needs it's fine - I just need it to put up and take down the hardtop - I don't use it to store the hardtop in the air. I just take the top off and lower it into the bag that I store on the cart. You can ask Matthew and maybe you can rig up a custom configuration if you intend to store it in the air and that is a concern.
