Most every time I order points for my 1964 230SL, I get the wrong points. Were there other distributors used in the 230SL and if so, what were they? Finding an affordable VJUR 6BR 49T is a rarity. Would be nice say if a 47T also fits.

Have you thought of 123 Ignition?

There were at least three different units used on 230SL. The 49T is one of the earlier ones and the 051 was the last one used when they went to ignition retard.

The '49T' is the rarer vacuum advance distributor. A good replacement would be the later 0 231 116 046 distributor (Also, vacuum advance)
You probably always get the wrong points because they would be for the more common later '051' vacuum retard distributor.
Check the 'wiki' for the correct parts numbers for the points and other related parts.

I would definately get a 123ignition. Makes the car so much better, instead of constantly battling with the old BOSCH distributors and their wear, points, condensates etc. :)

I think so. And clean and oil your original piece, get spare parts for it if needed, wrap nicely and put on shelf.
The immobilizing function in the bluetooth units is also very re-assuring to me.

As a fun fact, the VJUR 6 BR 49T was used on my 1960 220SE W128. Probably the first use of that distributor. They were swapping distributor models around like mad about that time. That car and my W111 both have the 123 in it now and I have never looked back.
