A Vintage photo I saw years ago in an Ice Cream Shop on The Gold Coast

Spot the Gullwing  How rare would that of been in Australia back then

The VW Bug in the foreground on the right has a large rear window, which came in 1965. So, picture must be after that, making the Gullwing at least 9 years old. Almost a "classic" already.

No Beetle (or other cars for that matter) in that photo are any newer than 1963.  The VW rear engine covers are the giveaway, they all have the small "nose" housing for the illumination lamp over the rear license plate.  VW changed the shape of the housing to a wider "ledge" design for the 1964 model year.

In 1958 there was a larger rear window (after the oval one) and in 1961 these larger tail lights.
