Post by: winston the browndog on April 26, 2020, 21:43:59
Does anyone know the correct stacking of the washers that go onto the rear motor mount ? Also what are the rubbers washers for  and where do they go ? where do they go ? I have searched the website , BBB ,factory parts and Haynes to no avail .
Thanks for the help , Paul

There is an early and late configuration. It sounds like you may have the early version.  SLS has a nice diagram of both versions on their website. Notice the thick one between the mount and the mounting plate is available in different thickness for purpose of leveling the drivetrain.

Hi,
does anyone has a DIY-method to find the right lining-up for the driveshaft?

I was digging into this years ago.

The advise I received: piece of string from the flange at the gear box to the flange in the differential.

Caution about the hood being damaged if rear mount is set too low.

Good checkpoint is valve cover removal - if you have issues, because of the firewall, you are too low.

Tightening needs to happen after some rocking of the car, on the car standing on its wheels (in case you need to losen some components there).

Hi Guys,
Apple has an App called angle pro, for free. By down loading it on your phone you can use your iphone as an inclinometer, giving you the exact angle of your drive train sections.
Stay safe

What are parts 21 through 28 for other than the few I am guessing are the spacer washers discussed on this thread. Mine only has 20 bolted to the plate but it’s not original of course. I’m at the point of securing my rear engine mount and driveshaft so this topic is great timing for me.

Thanks John

Hi John,

#21 is a rubber dirt cover, #26 is the thick outside washer, #27 is the variable thickness inside washer, #28 is the stamped metal retainer washer for the dirt cover. Look on page four of the SLS link below and see a kit #40 which has pictures of most of the parts. Most of the cars have a thick washer on the outside of the plate, and another thick washer (adjustment washer) above the plate, followed by the stamped washer and rubber cover and lastly the mount.
