I believe there should be an exhaust support bracket in the gearbox region.
Does anybody have
picture?
part numbers?
thanks

I just changed my exhaust on my 69 280sl and there was no support bracket in the gearbox region. One in the middle, plus one on each end of the aft most muffler.

Thanks, Per,
Thats what I've got but I beleive I've seen a picture with one.
Also the unsupported length looks too long? Maybe just me!!
BTW what exhaust did you fit: mild steel or stainless?

Naj,
I bought the standard steel exhaust from SLS. Got a mild shock when I discovered that it had to be welded together, but it turned out to be a piece of cake after reading some of the posted strings.

Hello Naj,
All the sedans of the era had an exhaust support bracket coming off the back of the transmission.
With a more enclosed tunnel the SL's could not have this type of bracket. Instead the W113 SL's had two additional rubber O-ring mounts in the center of the car.
