Title: Flags/Pennants
Post by: JamesL on March 05, 2020, 12:21:39
I think it was at the last Euro event that I saw a few (UK???) cars with flag-poles. They were mounted into the threads for the roof in the top edge of the windscreen and if I recall would have been about 15cm/6" tall to hold a small pennant flag of about that size. Some people had one, some two. Or did I imagine this....  ???

With summer event season coming up, I got to thinking about these and wondered if anyone had an interest in getting something like this. I have NO clue how the ones I saw were made (or their cost) and perhaps someone who knows more could chip in.

Just a thought...

Was it not the Polish contingent at the Willingen event?

I thought that so PM'd Pawel. A no from him...
Then I thought it was some of the folk who went from Provence to Bordeaux...

No, not a "no" - "I do not know" from me.  :) :)

I will check. I have not seen it. I would get 2 pieces.

The flags were at the Euro event in Provence.  I first saw one on a car at noon on Friday at the restaurant. At the time, I thought that perhaps they came from the “goodie bag” handed out at registration.  When I asked I found that some participants had brought them along to the event.  Sorry I don’t recall which participants🤔

I checked. Willingen it was.

These were flags on the bracket that was a "jaw" that you slide on the glass (like the one we glue to the glass as part of window sliding/shifting mechanism). If you just slide it on the glass, it flies away at ca 90km/h. If you slide it and close the window against the roof - it stays.

It was not a bracket that you can fit in the hole for roof fixtures in the window frame, unfortunately.

That might work but I specifically recall them being in the holes on top of the windscreen frame
(the picture above is likely a far cheaper option as long as your window is up!)

Thanks Sully. I'll follow up
Question remains, however, is there an interest?

James, as I recall the flags in Provence were mounted in the roof latch holes on top of the windscreen and they included  a logo, perhaps our Pagoda SL Group logo as at the top of the page here. I would be interested in a couple.

James et al

I originally made some from corks, that fit in the roof locating holes, for Willingen, but have since modified them to use Plastic "Champagne Corks", with a slot cut in.
Ray has some very nice metal ones, which I keep meaning to copy, some time.

Hope to meet up in Bavaria , the world health permitting....

Keep well

Picture from Willingen.

We put the flag stick between A-pillar frame and window seal.
