I was clearing drains and spraying wax into the cavities over the weekend. I have a couple of detailed questions, this is one of them: Should the Holes in the Chassis Frame Under Trunk Be Plugged?
I mean those on the picture. I see them sometimes plugged, sometimes not. There are similar ones on the cross member in the back.

Hi,
afaik only holes no plugs.

I checked the Holy Grail. That is how it is, I think...
-
If memory serves your car is a 1970. The "Holy Grail" is an earlier car. I seem to recall some differences in the plugs between those years. Front inner fender top has plugs painted body color in 68 and no plugs in 1970 etc. Let me look a bit and see what I can find.

The rail holes are clear but the rear crossmember are plugged. I am pretty sure the crossmember above the rear axle gets plugs too. This picture is from my 1970 before restoration of the body.
-
Thank you for your kind attention and advise!
Yes, on the Holy Grail picture I can see, as you say, the rear cross-member plugged while the rails are left unplugged.
-
I did verify the crossmember forward of the fuel tank gets plugs too.
-
Thank you, the car is still up on the lift, will take a look what I have tonight.
-
Don't want moisture trapped so even if correct to have plugs, I wouldn't plug them.
-
Good point. Need to look how it looks there.
-
There is a drain hole there. I waved them and I plugged them.
I do not know, however, how to apply wax inside the bottom of the drive shaft tunnel. It is double layer where the two brackets for hand brake cables are fitted.

You mean this (arrow)?
-
Yes, exactly!

There is an opening towards the front of the car, in this chassis truss.
There you can insert a thin hose, in order to spray wax protection
-
Thank you! I will try while the car is still on jack. Kind of tricky to get to with engine+transmission+drive shaft in... Mirror+flash light+hose, maybe the vacuum hose throttle-distributor as it is stiff enough... I will see.
I have a drain in the back of this bottom on the left hand side. May also try to get through there, but it is difficult to reach the right hand side as the cavity is divided...
Thanks for help!

I found a very thin piece of aluminum pipe in the garrage id 1mm od 2mm, so it was easy to do it.
So I injected wax there, but: I saw a small pond of wax that came out of the opening Hans kindly indicated. Some wax might have come there when I was injecting it to other cavities, cross-members, etc.
