I have a '72 350Sl, which has been sitting idle in my garage since I purchased it two years ago.
I believe that it's time that the ol' girl hit the road.
I would like to have the car fully restored first - engine, body, interior, etc.
Can anyone recommend a good restorer in Ontario?
Thanks kindly.
- Oh, and yes, I do realize that this car is not a 200 series. Us 300 guys just haven't gotten our acts together to launch a forum! ;)

Hey Dan.......maybe you should tell him where you are and also alert him to the fact that you help out a lot on SL107.com !!

Dan and Mac,
Instead of saying "I'm 3 hours drive from Toronto", You should say "I'm 90 minutes from Detroit". Sounds a whole lot closer. Of course you could say "I'm a 3 day drive from Vancouver"....

This may be a little off-topic but I have wondered this for a long time. In California, Pagodas remain relatively rare -- meaning we don't see many day to day. The 107s, however, seem to be pretty much everywhere you look. If one of us decided, hey I think I'll buy a 350SL or a 450SL, etc -- are we to assume that most for sale are high-mileage cars that will need lots of engine work? If so, how does this engine rebuild scenerio compare to 113s? I get the feeling parts are available but want to know if a typical mechanic can get in there and give these old girls new life -- without skinning the owner alive. Any ideas?
I guess what I am saying is -- I am not afraid of the cosmetics & body stuff -- but am concerned with costs of mechanicals...

Thanks Dan. That's helpful. As for general maintenance -- a little more for a tune-up etc than a 230SL?

Dan,
You asked where "Mac" was from, so I clicked on his user ID to find out that he is from Burlington. Just trying to get you the info you asked for.

To begin, I would just like to thank everyone for their input. It's much appreciated.
Daniel - I do reside in Burlington, which isn't that far from Sarnia. I would be more than willing to chat with you. In fact, one of my employees hails from Sarnia and is there at least once a month visiting relatives. Perhaps, I'll have him drive the car there on his next trip so that you can take a look at it. In the meantime, do you have any photos of cars that you've restored? Do you have a site, per chance?
Again, thanks everyone.
Cheers,
Mac
