Clutch plate 010 250 2603, pressure plate 003 250 9101, bearing 000 250 0515. These are for the 280SL

280 parts are different than 230 parts. Pressure plate, flywheel and throw out bearing for sure. Even the slave cylinder, master and hose are different.

Yes, Doc.
Thats the problem I'm having. The release bearing on the 280 has 2 spring clips to hold it to the fork while the new bearing has no holes drilled for the clips.
The new cover (pressure plate) is also a different height to the one that came out of the 280.

You have get the right parts or it won't work and you need to measure the thickness of the flywheel. You can remove 1 mm from the surface and then you have to get a new one. My clutch wouldn't work right until I did. No way I could get the right adjustment at the slave cylinder.
There's two different pressure plates and different throw out bearings. 280 pressure plate has about 12 spring fingers with a central hub - stronger yet easier to push the clutch in.

Doc,
Is there a rule of thumb for when the flywheel should come out for refacing?
I have some surface cracks but the scoring is not deep at all.
The clutch has been slipped at some time till the pressure plate face and diaphragm spring turned blue!
