Title: Meyle engine mounts (early)

Gents,

I bought 2 new motor mounts from Meyle. Part Numbers as follows
014 022 0006 equivalent to Mercedes 180 223 09 12 for the left hand side
014 022 0007 equivalent to Mercedes 180 223 10 12 for the right hand side

The right motor mounts are identical but the left hand are different as pictured below. I have confirmed the part numbers are stamped on the 2 mounts pictured exactly as stated above.

Anybody else experienced this? I don't want to fit this mount.

I had some Meyle mounts fail before a resto had even left the workshop and will now only fit genuine Mercedes items.

I think I recall a discussion on the Forum about this and it might have been concluded that the MB supplied mounts are probably the best choice. They are not very expensive (at least for 280SL). I think they may come in a set only.

I see the price and 72h availability for 1802231012 for $100, but there is a note there is a set avaialble only.

I see a repair kit for 113043 and 113044 for $200, not sure if this will fit you (A 110 220 02 17).

Hi Peter,
I am following your post with interest in order to hear from the experts. I am also rebuilding my front end. Previous owner or shop replaced the motor mounts as well without adding the lower rubber bumper and the plate. That being said, my motor mounts left and right are the same. The vendors I looked up and carry mounts are listing only one for both sides.
I put my old mounts on the axle frame and in both cases the recess in the rubber is always parallel to the axle no matter how you turn them. (same as your old mount). I don't know if that matters but would think so.
Curious to see what comes up here.

I think only one mount is used for both sides these days, even with original equipment MB. The cut-out should be parallel to the axis of the subframe. The cut-outs accommodate the rocking movements of the engine.

Thanks guys for your responses.

I will buy some Mercedes OEM mounts.

For our members in Europe I bought the Meyle mounts from MBClassics in Germany who have provided me with excellent service, no complaints there. I will go back to them with the story of the Meyle left side mount and ask them to compare it with the original Mercedes version which they also provide.

It is clear that the "cut out" as described by Joe is not parallel with the subframe axis, it is at 90 degrees to it.

I will report back their feedback.

just FYI.
I bought and received the motor mount kit from MB. Both mounts are the same, part number 180 223 10 12.
The kit includes the lower rubber stop pieces and the (4) bolts / washers.

I bought it as a set which includes the rubber bumpers and some bolts. With a discount from the classic center is was $ 195. The set has his own part #  110-220-02-17.

I see in the EPC that the 113042 engine mounts (A1272200230 and A1272200330) are both replaced by A1802231012.

Under 113042 for A1802231012, as per the notes in the EPC:
1. Is no longer available individually, only in repair kit.
2. "Up to ident. no.: 042 012864 DELIVER ADDITIONALLY: 1X A 127 220 00 71" - this is the lower bolt, available, ca $30.

If you want to replace the plates in 113042, you need to order them separately (A 121 223 03 31 and A 121 223 04 31, $50 each).

Hello guys , I’m in the process to buy new engine mounts and I found this oem set of mount for under 130€. What is not clear is why some websites offer kits with bolts included and some not. I found also for sale in mbclassic.de a set of motor mounts plate. What is this item? Is not included too in the engine mount kit . Should I buy this plates too?

I have just noticed that from dbdepot , the oem mounts have only 1 red dot and the other mounts have 2 red dots.
I guess it means one is softer and one is harder. Do you know something about it?
