Title: Running In Filter Element
Post by: Harry on December 24, 2019, 15:47:09
The BBB for my 230SL describes a "running in (oil) filter element".  Is this something the Forum is aware of?  Says PN 000 184 42 25.

Yes, a special oil filter for initial break-in period of a new or rebuilt engine can be ordered.

Harry,

Also make sure you use the lighter run in oil with that filter too

I know when my engine was rebuilt the old fellow that did the work used a lighter grade oil as part of the process.  It was in there for the first 1000 miles then we drained it out and changed the filter.
