My '65 230SL presently has a combination of the old style strap and Norma clamps which may or may not be correct where they are applied. e.g.the air cleaner has a strap clamp which I believe should be Norma. Every engine bay picture I have seen has a different mix/application of clamps.
While I have read the clamp description in the Tech Manual, can anyone refer me to or possibly have an engine bay picture of a complete and correct use of the combined clamp types that they can point me to? JB

Here are pics of 49er's original engine bay photos of his 250 SL and 280 SL that I use for reference for my car.
As I understand it all the Norma style clamps should have Phillips head screws in them except for the very early 230 SL's which have slotted. However I have not 100% confirmed this. I look forward to a discussion on this😀
You can see in the photos there are at least 4 different clamps used around the engine bay.
Heater hoses & Brake booster hose
Power steering hose
Radiator hose
Everything else

The power steering return hose uses 2 special quick release screw clamps not used anywhere else.
-
They are not similar to those used on the coolant hose?

The quick release type looks like this

ok, this is the same one, I think, that is on the coolant hose, isn't it? Just different diameter. Or I am missing something?

Coolant hose clamp, Beru 9mm width strap.
This type also used on the rear axle for the large rubber bellows.

Yes.. please note however, the clamp types installed from factory changed significantly sometime in 1969 (280 SL).
The earlier, band type tightened with a twist pin were replaced by C-clamp type with M4 tightening screw. See attached

I see, thank you!

Some cars originally used that power steering supply hose clamp below the thermostat housing (in a larger diameter).
