Title: Fuel Injection Pump Appurtenance
Post by: Harry on December 01, 2019, 14:00:38
1966 230SL.  I noticed in handling my FIP that the bolt and collar shown in the photo was finger loose.  Can I just re-tighten this?  (What is it for?)

Thanks,
Harry

Yes, just tighten it. It is the access cover for the IP rack. It's function is to keep dirt and moisture out. On latter pumps, it is a rubber cap.

Thanks Joe.  I wonder if you know (and I'm sure that you do) what size bolt secures the oil pump base to the block?  I cataloged every bolt (I thought) when disassembling but I cannot find that bolt.  It looks like an M8?

The bolt has a 14mm hex head and about 1'' long with a wavy washer. Part #000933 008025
